The initial Mid-Summer Field Hockey Tourney, held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, was a big success for the eleven teams that participated on the turf at Champions Stadium of Cape Henlopen HS. The tourney was a joint effort between Delaware Shore Field Hockey and United Through Sports to raise funds for UTS and the Delaware Shore Scholarship program.

The teams played on a reduced sized field measuring 50 yards long and 60 yards wide with 6 athletes per side. The rules were a modification of the indoor and outdoor rule book from the International Field Hockey Association.

The tourney hopes to expand the number of teams in next year’s event with a tentative date of Friday, July 7, 2017.
