Two Books to Die For

Dr. Michael Greger is always on the move! He moves while he does medical and nutritional research, he moves while he writes, he even moves while he shoots his free daily videos at https://nutritionfacts.org. His moving secret—he uses a treadmill desk, always exercising while working! Exercise is one of Dr. Greger’s famous DAILY DOZEN. The other eleven are the Whole Plant-Based foods he recommends for vibrant health in his two life changing books, HOW NOT TO DIE and THE HOW NOT TO DIE COOKBOOK.

I met Dr. Greger 11/2 years ago at Plantstock (http://www.capegazette.com/blog-entry/rip-rescue/133781on the Esselstyn family farm in upstate New York. I was lucky to catch him standing still long enough to autograph my copy of his “moving” book, HOW NOT TO DIE, the New York Times bestseller in which he brings together the latest scientific studies on how to fight disease and prolong life with a plant-based diet.

Dr.  Greger practices what he preaches, sharing his culinary secrets in his newest book, THE HOW NOT TO DIE COOKBOOK, full of mouthwatering recipes and gorgeous photos of real death-defying dishes. Here’s what he writes about beans, first among his DAILY DOZEN: “I knew beans were healthy, but I didn’t realize just how healthy until all the amazing microbiome research started coming out. I encourage you to get into the (delicious) habit of eating legumes throughout the day.”

Then he goes on to include recipes for Black Bean Gazpacho Salad, Red Bean Gumbo, Chickpea & Cauliflower Curry and so much more. Dying to try them all!
