Winter Indoor League Update

 

The Delaware Shore indoor league began play on Sunday, January 14th with the Elementary Division games opening the afternoon. The Skins defeated the Eagles on a solo goal by Lorilyn Marsch for a final of 1-0. The second game of the division was a 1-1 result between the Cardinals and the Ravens. Maggie Bare had the Cardinal goal while Caroline Williamson scored for the Ravens.

            In the opening game of the Senior Division, Roanoke defeated Arcadia by a final of 2-0. Both Roanoke goals were by Chloe Wood. Eastern got a pair of goals from both Hannah Maney and Madeline Pepper to overpower Vassar by a final of 4-0. Queens got an early goal from Macy Steinwedel to take the early lead over LI Brooklyn but Emma Ruley and Grace Wiggins scored late in the game to put LI up by a goal but Elise Westbrook quickly tied the game and here sister got the game winner with 2:23 remaining. Final score was Queens 3 and LI Brooklyn 2. Haverford was able to roll over Roanoke by a final of 4-1. Emma Lehman and Natalee Petty both scored a pair for Haverford. Chloe Wood had the only goal for Roanoke. Vassar came back to earn a 1-1 tie with Ithaca with Shannon Hitchens scoring the tying goal for Vassar after Shelby Manlove had given Ithaca the early lead.

 

            The Elementary Division continued on Sunday, January 21st with the Skins earning a 1-0 win over the Cardinals. Bailey Brown had the winning goal for the Skins. The Eagles and the Ravens played to a 1-1 result. Madilynne O’Malley scored for the Eagles and Caroline Williamson earned the goal for the Ravens.

            In the Senior Division, LI Brooklyn took command early to defeat Arcadia by a final of 3-1. Grace Wiggins with a pair and Emma Ruley did the LI Brooklyn scoring while Kylee LaVere had the goal for Arcadia. Eastern and Queens played to a 2-2 result. Hannah Maney started the scoring for Eastern but Macy Steinwedel and Emma Westbrook both scored to give the lead to Queens. Madeline Pepper earned the tie for Eastern with her goal at 4:50 remaining in the game. Haverford defeated Vassar by a final of 3-2. Rilyn Lehman, Callie Short and Hannah Schaeffer did the scoring for Haverford while Samantha Swift had the goals for Vassar. LI Brooklyn earned their second win of the day by defeating Roanoke, 3-0. Emma Ruley, Baylie Williamson and Grace Wiggins had the goals for Brooklyn. In the nightcap, Queens came back for a 3-0 win over Ithaca with Emma Westbrook earning the hat trick.

 

Games resume at Milton Elementary School gym on Sunday, January 28th with the first game starting at 12:30.
