Bereavement groups start March 7 in Rehoboth, March 23 in Seaford

The Cancer Support Community and Delaware Hospice are collaborating to offer monthly bereavement groups to focus on issues of loss that continue beyond the early stages of grief. The Next Step meets at 9 a.m., the first Monday of each month beginning March 7 at the Sussex facility at 18947 John J. Williams Highway, Suite 312, Rehoboth. The Next Step also meets at 10 a.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month beginning March 23  in the Resource Library of the Nanticoke Cancer Care Center in Seaford. The facilitator of both of these bereavement groups is Midge DiNatale, GC-C, of Delaware Hospice. Grieving the loss of spouse or life partner support group set March 10

Delaware Hospice will host a support group for those grieving the loss of a spouse or life partner from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, and the second Wednesday of every month in Georgetown. This support group offers an opportunity to share and learn helpful ways to cope with grief. Attendees can speak to others who share their sense of loss for an opportunity to find a new source of kinship and support. Education is provided on various topics including coping methods. Bliss meditation course set in Lewes March 14-25

A bliss meditation course is set for 2 to 5:30 p.m., every day from Monday, March 14, through Friday, March 25 at Dimitra Yoga. Sherry McGoldrick will teach bliss meditation, which is a traditional Vietnamese meditative technique that helps practitioners awaken their inner bliss. Six-week bereavement series to begin in Rehoboth March 14

The Cancer Support Community is collaborating with Delaware Hospice to host a six-week bereavement program, Healing After the Loss of a Loved One, facilitated by Midge DiNatale, MA, GC-C. This series will meet at 5 p.m. Mondays, beginning March 14, and is free of charge and open to anyone that has lost a loved one in the past year. Lymphedema management after cancer surgery is topic March 22

The Cancer Support Community will present Understanding Lymphedema - Past and Present at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 22. Camilla Carter, physical therapist and lymphedema specialist at Beebe Healthcare, will explore lymphedema management after cancer surgery. The Sussex facility is in Suite 312 of the Medical Arts Building at the Beebe Health Campus, 18947 John J. Williams Highway, Rehoboth. Overeaters Anonymous meets four times each week

Overeaters Anonymous holds local meetings in the Cape Region four times per week. Groups meet from 1 to 2 p.m., every Monday, at Conley's United Methodist Church, 33106 Jolyns Way, Lewes; from 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach; from 5 to 6 p.m., Thursdays, at Long Neck United Methodist Church, 32051 Long Neck Road, Long Neck; and from 9 to 10 a.m., Saturdays, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 20276 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach. Bayhealth hosts Al-Anon, Alateen

Bayhealth is hosting weekly Al-Anon and Alateen support group meetings at Bayhealth Kent General. The meetings will be at 9:30 a.m., Sundays in the General Foods Conference Rooms at Bayhealth Kent General, 640 S. State St., Dover.

Al-Anon and Alateen are free and open to anybody who has a friend or family member suffering from alcoholism.  The group provides fellowship and support, and helps members learn from other members who share similar experiences.  Al-Anon and Alateen also provide insight on the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous to ending alcohol and substance abuse.  Alateen focuses on young people ages 13 to 19 who are impacted by a family member’s abuse of alcohol.  For more information call 866-460-4070 or go to www.marydelalanon.org.

HIV/AIDS support group meets

A support group for HIV/AIDS will meet every other week starting at 7 p.m. in the Branford Lounge at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach. Free rapid HIV tests set in Rehoboth every second and fourth Thursday

CAMP Rehoboth is teaming with the Burton Village Community Center in Rehoboth Beach to offer free rapid HIV testing. The test only takes 15 minutes to get results. Testing will be offered from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. every second Thursday and from 1 to 3 p.m. every fourth Thursday. Walk-ins are welcome, and no appointment is needed.
