Bradley trial returns to Sussex County

May 20, 2011

The trial of Lewes pediatrician Earl Bradley will take place in the Sussex County Superior Court, beginning at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, in Courtroom 1 in Georgetown.

Judge William C. Carpenter ruled Thursday, May 19, that Bradley’s trial will take place in Sussex and not New Castle County as a result of Bradley’s decision to have a bench trial instead of a jury trial. The trial was to have taken place in New Castle County Superior Court because of the larger jury pool, as well as the video technology available there. But since Bradley will have his case heard by a judge and not a jury, the trial was moved to Sussex, where the crimes took place.

Bradley is awaiting trial at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna on charges of rape and exploitation involving more than 100 of his child patients.
