Mattie M. Outten, elementary school employee

Mrs. Mattie M. Outten, 85, of Millsboro, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at Life Care at Lofland Park in Seaford.

Mattie was born iSelbyville, May 2, 1932, to the late Walter and Travella Townsend. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Frank W. Outten; and a granddaughter Kasey M. Outten.

She retired from the state of Delaware where she worked at the East Millsboro Elementary School for 21 years. Mattie attended both Zoar United Methodist Church and Hickory Hill United Methodist Church.

She is survived by five children, Paul D. Townsend and his wife Robbin of Millsboro, Frank A. Outten of Lincoln, Patricia A. Turpin and her husband Danny of Millsboro, Gregory J. Outten and his wife Onna of Georgetown, and Linda M. Neal and her husband Leonard of Jacksonville, N.C.; and one sister, Shirley M. Hitchens of Georgetown. Mattie is also survived by nine grandchildren, Frank H. Outten, Melissa Turpin, Lucas Turpin, Olivia Outten, Nicklas Outten, Elizabeth Neal, Coleman Neal, Casie Pugh, and Kyle Isaacs; as well as five great-grandchildren, Frank W. Outten, Brendan Pugh, Kenzie Pugh, Aiden Isaacs and Orion Isaacs.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Monday, Oct. 9, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from 11 a.m. till noon for viewing and visitation. Burial will follow at the Millsboro Cemetery.
