St. Edmond Parish Mission set Nov. 12-14 in Rehoboth

November 11, 2017

St. Edmond Catholic Church will offer its Annual Parish Mission Sunday to Tuesday, Nov. 12 to 14. The topic of the mission is: Stewards of Light, Stewards of Love, Stewards of Joy: An Ignatian Retreat. The mission will be based on the mottos of the Diocese of Wilmington's most recent bishops.

• Nov. 12: "As One Who Serves," motto of Bishop Mulvee, who served the diocese from 1985-95.
• Nov. 13: "Obedience to Jesus Christ," motto of Bishop Saltarelli, who served the diocese from 1995 to 2008.
• Nov. 14: "Rejoice in the Lord Always," motto of Bishop Malooly, who is the current bishop and was installed in 2008.

The retreat will be led by Fr. Brian S. Lewis. Lewis was ordained to the priesthood of Jesus Christ for the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington by Bishop Malooly June 8, 2013, the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Prior to ordination, Lewis taught French for 15 years at Haddon Township High School in New Jersey. He has served as associate pastor at St. John the Beloved in Wilmington. He currently serves the parish and school community of St. Elizabeth in Wilmington as associate pastor. Lewis has given a parish mission retreat every year of his priesthood, and he looks forward to sharing with joy this retreat with the community of St. Edmond.

The St. Edmond Parish Mission will take place each evening beginning at 7 p.m. in the church. Lewis will be the homilist at each of the weekend Masses to whet everyone's appetite for the mission. He will also offer sessions following the 8:30 a.m. Masses Monday and Tuesday.

St. Edmond Church is located on the corner of King Charles Avenue and Laurel Street in downtown Rehoboth Beach.
