Theresa E. Murray, owned bait and tackle store

Theresa E. Murray went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at her home in Ocean View. She passed quietly surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Long Island, N.Y., she moved with her family to Laurel when she was a child, and attended schools in Laurel. She is survived by sisters Mary Louise Janosik, Lillian Wooten, and brother Air Force Lt. Col. (Retired) Walter Hedges.
Tress is preceded in death by her husband James L. Murray. She is survived by her daughters Bonnie Cooper, Shirley (Gordon) Price and Ellen Magee; a son Charles (Dee) Murray; grandchildren Debbie and Wendy Cooper, Michele Price McCoy, and Melissa (Matt) Dittman, Christopher (Charolette), Sean (Brandy) and Michael (Hanna) Magee, Brandon (Isabel) Murray and Sara (Adam) Clark; also great-grandchildren Courtney Wisniewski, Graham and Hazel Magee, Connor, Devin and Harrison McCoy, Brent and Elizabeth Dittman, Liam Murray, Finley and Ransom Clark; additionally, great-great-grandchildren Gavyn Lynch and Skyler Acri. She loved and was very proud of all her family.

She owned and operated Murray's Bait and Tackle Shop in Ocean View for 52 years. Devoted to her customers and many young people who she employed, she was very proud of teaching these young people how to make change using just an old-fashioned cash register and basic (manual) math skills. She also was known for the many shell lamps that she made and provided to local charities.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, at noon at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon. Interment will be in St. George's Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made in Theresa's name to Delaware Seashore Preservation Foundation/Tower Project, P.O. Box 981, Ocean View, DE 19970.
