Supermoon rising

Miriam Falcon and Gerardo Montes are bundled up and waiting for the moonrise on Rehoboth Beach.
Photographers were in place for the moonrise while others hit the beach with smartphones to capture the first moon in the new year.
Mother nature said Happy New Year with a full moon rise over the Atlantic.
January is host to two full moons. Moonrise on New Year’s Day was a supermoon also known as the Wolf Moon. A supermoon happens when the full moon coincides with the moon’s closest approach to Earth in its orbit. They appear closer and brighter than normal. The next supermoon will be Wednesday, Jan.31.
Photographers fought the frigid temperatures to be in place for the scene, while many people just pointed their smart phones at the orb.
