Prime Hook Road already flooded

Saturday's forecast could mean more problems
October 28, 2011

Prime Hook Road, the only road to the Delaware Bay beach town of Primehook Beach, is flooded even after high tide Oct. 28. With wind, rain and high winds in the Saturday, Oct. 29 forecast, residents of the small community are expressing concern the road may be impassable this weekend.

The Delaware Department of Transportation has closed Prime Hook Road between Cods Road and Primehook Beach due to water on the roadway. DelDOT will assess the condition of the road at the next low tide to determine if the road can be reopened, said spokeswoman Tina Shockley.

Due to the predicted inclement weather, DelDOT crews will continue to monitor the road as long as necessary. For up-to-the-minute information on Primehook Road check the DelDOT website at www.deldot.gov, under live traffic, real time traffic advisory.
