Since 2003, the Sussex Technical High School JROTC Raven Battalion has supported CHEER Senior Services by participating in the non-profit’s annual Beach Day Walk in Rehoboth. The cadets once again sacrificed a teacher in-service day off from school on to undertake the 5K walk through Henlopen Acres and down the Rehoboth Boardwalk.
This year’s total contributions solicited by the cadets equaled $4,511. Since 2003, CHEER has benefited from the JROTC’s participation by $43,215. Top fundraiser this year was Cadet Nathan O’Neill of Georgetown, who collected $747. Runner-up was Cadet Richard Pope of Millsboro, who recorded $260.
The Raven Battalion also received awards from CHEER for Most Walkers and Greatest Group Donation.
After the walk, the cadets were treated to a pizza lunch, courtesy of Nicola Pizza.
