Richard ‘R.C.’ Barnard, Blues Gems drummer

Richard Chambers "R.C." Barnard, 50, of Rehoboth Beach, died on Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at his late residence.  He was born in Milford, Aug. 25, 1961, son of the late Remsen C. Barnard III and Adele Chambers Barnard.

R.C. had been employed for many years as a sales agent for Wharton and Barnard Inc.  He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and painting with watercolors.  He was a member of Jefferson Lodge 15 in Lewes, and at one time was a drummer in the band called Blues Gems.

Survivors include his sister Susanne E. Barnard of Milford; four half-brothers: Rem Barnard IV and wife Vera of Walnut Creek, Calif., Tom Barnard, Bill Barnard and wife Dianne, J.D. Barnard and wife Diana, all of Milford; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 24, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes.  Burial will be private at the Milford Community Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity of choice.
