Karen Kelly receives Nursing Excellence Award from Delaware Chapter, AWHONN

Karen Kelly, RNC-OB, MSN, Bayhealth Milford Memorial Women’s Services nurse manager and Kent General Special Care Nursery manager, received the Nursing Excellence Award from the Delaware section of AWHONN at the Oct. 12 annual statewide conference in Rehoboth Beach.

AWHONN, the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, works to promote the health of women and newborns and to strengthen the nursing profession.  More than 80 members comprise the Delaware section of this nationwide organization.  Kelly served as chair of the Delaware section from 2000 through 2004.

A Bayhealth employee since 1983, Kelly previously served as Bayhealth’s breast care coordinator before being named nurse manager of Women’s Services at Milford Memorial in 2006 and Kent General Special Care Nursery manager in December 2011. She received her associate’s degree in nursing from Delaware Tech, her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Wilmington College and her master’s degree in nursing from Wesley College. Kelly is also certified in inpatient obstetrics.

Kelly is a member of the Delaware Organization of Nurse Leaders and Fetal Infant Mortality Review Board, and a member of Bayhealth’s Child Advocacy Group. Kelly facilitates the Joint Practice Council and Joint Resource Council for Women’s and Children’s Services at Bayhealth.
