William T. Dunning, Townsend retiree

William Thomas Dunning, 84, of Milton, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, after brief illness.

Bill, as he was fondly called, was born July 31, 1928, in Lewes to the late Dewey S. and Edna Henry Dunning. Bill was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged.

Bill worked more than 30 years for the Delaware Department of Transportation at the Gravel Hill depot.

After retiring from the state, Bill went to work for J.G. Townsend Farms in Georgetown for more than 20 years until his sudden illness.

Bill was predeceased by his wife Gladys in 1986. He is survived by four sons, Bernard Flowers of Millsboro, William F. and Lavon Dunning of Lincoln, Apostle Anthony and Pastor Ruth Flowers of Bridgeville, and Darryl T. Dunning of Milton; two daughters, Patricia Dunning and Pamela Ayers of Lincoln; 24 grandchildren; three sisters, Elsie Wingo and Edna Mae Miller of Lewes, and Joann and Thomas Henry of Georgetown; and one brother-in-law, Rufus June Carter of Lewes.

Services will be noon, Saturday, Nov. 24, at Pilgrim Ministry of Deliverence, DuPont Hwy., Georgetown. Bishop-Levin Bailey will be officiating. Friends may call at the church two hours before the service. Arrangements by Miller FuneraL & Crematiom Services.
