Elwood Johnson Sr., enjoyed fishing

Elwood “Woody” W. L. Johnson Sr. of Milton passed away Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, 2012, a few days prior to his 91st birthday at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sarah; his mother and father, Thomas and Mollie Johnson, formerly of Milton; and his brother Paul, formerly of Seaford.

At the time of his retirement, he worked for American Original Seafood in Cannon.  After retirement he enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Catherine Hopkins and her husband the Hon. John R. (Jack) Hudson of Milton; a son, Elwood (Bill) W.L. Johnson Jr. and his wife Karen of Milton; daughter Lesia Kim Hutcheson and husband Gary of Ordinary, Va.; granddaughter Jessica Hammond and her husband Kyle of Selbyville; grandson John A Hopkins III and his wife Dawn of Milton; great-grandson Justin Hopkins and his friend Alison of Milton; and a great-grandson Izaak Hopkins of Milton.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday Nov. 27, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services Milton, where a viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 26.  Interment will be in Zion Church Cemetery, Route 16, Milton.
