Ocean Atlantic Rehoboth Stroll & Roll Dec. 8 to feature local crafters and artisans

The featured home on the tour, 38280 Robinson Drive in Rehoboth Beach, will showcase the works of Kate Lear, a well-known clay artist for 40-plus years with a BFA in ceramics from the University of Delaware. Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty will host an Open House Stroll & Roll event in downtown Rehoboth Beach from noon to 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8. Open to the public, the event will showcase some of the brokerage’s downtown Rehoboth homes for sale, along with a featured artist or crafter and refreshments at each home.

“We have really enjoyed hosting these open house tours in Rehoboth, Lewes and Bethany over the past year,” said Kathleen Schell, marketing director. “We had a great turnout last December when we had over 100 people visit some of the open houses. We couldn’t be more pleased that people really seemed to enjoy this concept and we also have a chance to partner up with local restaurants and artists when we have the events.”

Featuring art at each home is a way for the brokerage to help showcase some of the area’s impressive artisans. Many of the artists sold pieces during the event last year and enjoyed interacting with their featured home’s visitors. This year, the Rehoboth Art League will also be hosting its holiday open house that day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a special visit from Santa from 11 a.m. to 1 pm. “We hope people can also stop by the art league that day and browse through their great collection of works. It should be a fun day of homes, art and shopping downtown in Rehoboth,” said Schell.

OA Sotheby’s has also partnered up with Azura Clothing at 139 Rehoboth Ave. for the day’s events, and the boutique will be offering complimentary food, wine and special discounts between 1 and 5 p.m. for people on the Stroll & Roll tour. Participants on the tour who visit four or more homes that day will have the opportunity to win raffle prizes at Azura as well.

“We are thrilled with the great response we received from participants and realtors for these events,” said Justin Healy, broker at OA Sotheby’s. “We’ve consistently been able to write a contract on one of the featured homes on these tours and are happy to host a fun day of open house hopping with a spotlight on local artists.” The brokerage is planning similar Stroll & Roll events throughout 2013.
