Ruth R. Post, Milton historian

Ruth R. Post, 84, of Milton, passed away at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, after a long illness.

Mrs. Post graduated from Greenwood High School and attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Pa. She retired as the graphic artist for Delaware Technical Community College Owens Campus.  She was past president of the Milton Historical Society and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She was instrumental in establishing the Milton Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Mrs. Post enjoyed researching family geneology, sketching the historic homes of Milton, playing Scrabble with friends at Paynter’s Mill, decorating her home for the holidays and collecting American antiques.

Mrs. Post is survived by her sons, William H. Post and wife Deborah, and Donald A. Post and wife Patricia; grandchildren Christopher G. Post, Nicholas W.R. Post, Summer L. Post, Carrie L. Taylor and Travis W. Taylor; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy E. Post Sr.; son Guy E. Post Jr.; and parents Harvey W. and Reba T. Rhodes.

A simple church service will be held for family and friends at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 2, at Todd’s Chapel, eight miles west of Greenwood on Route 16. This will be followed by a visitation at her home, 16232 John Rowland Trail, Paynter’s Mill, Milton.
