Fund for Women to hold workshop for nonprofits applying for grants

Kent/Sussex workshop is Dec. 4 in Dover

The Fund for Women of the Delaware Community Foundation will offer a Kent/ Sussex workshop for Delaware nonprofit agencies preparing applications for Fund for Women grants.

Workshop attendance is optional and will not affect grant awards. The workshop for Kent/Sussex is 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the Duncan Center, 500 Loockerman St. in Dover.

RSVPs to TheFundForWomen@yahoo.com by Dec. 3 are appreciated but not required.

Nonprofit organizations with programs benefiting women and girls in Delaware are invited to apply. Applications are available at www.delcf.org/ffw. The Fund for Women will begin accepting applications Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013. The deadline is Friday, Jan. 25, 2013. Only online applications are accepted and should be sent to TheFundForWomen@yahoo.com.

Last year, the Fund for Women awarded $125,000 to 11 organizations. The Fund for Women accepts applications from nonprofit, tax-exempt, 501c3 organizations for programs that address the needs and enhance the worth and potential of women and girls in Delaware by helping them to lead productive, self-sufficient lives.

The Fund for Women’s one-year grants offer organizations an opportunity to obtain seed money for innovative, creative programming or to continue or expand programs in which the program’s effectiveness has been demonstrated. No grants are awarded for individuals.

Organizations that have received grants for three consecutive years must take a one-year hiatus before they are eligible to apply again.
