First Saturday Dec. 1 to feature Governor’s Holiday Open House at Woodburn

The First State Heritage Park ushers in the holiday season Dec. 1 with First Saturdays in the First State. Highlighting the day's activities is a Holiday Open House at Woodburn.

Gov. Jack Markell and First Lady Carla Markell will host visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Governor's House, which will be decorated for the holiday season. Tours of Woodburn and of Hall House will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. In keeping with the festive atmosphere at Woodburn, the Johnson Victrola Museum will feature seasonal music throughout the day.

Other First Saturday activities include tours of The Old State House and Legislative Hall, and programs at The Old State House and the John Bell House. Exhibits are on display at the Johnson Victrola Museum, the First State Heritage Park Welcome Center and Galleries, the Delaware Public Archives and the Biggs Museum of American Art, which also features its monthly Biggs Kids program. Walking tours of The Green are offered throughout the day.

Admission to all park sites and programs is free.
