Tanger Pink Trees of Hope provides gifts to families of breast cancer patients
The Tanger Outlet Center in Rehoboth Beach will host its third annual Tanger Pink Trees of Hope program this year, providing holiday gifts to local families that have been financially sidetracked due to a recent breast cancer diagnosis.
The Tanger Outlet Center is displaying countertop signs with a Christmas tree on them and paper ornaments that can be removed with families' wish list items on them. The trees will be at Tanger Shopper Services at Seaside or Midway, or inside select Tanger Bayside stores like Tiger Lili, Longaberger, and ToyZam. The trees are being displayed now through Thursday, Dec. 20.
The public is invited to choose ornaments from the trees, purchase the items indicated on the ornament, and then return the unwrapped item to Shopper Services at Tanger Seaside along with the paper ornament.
As a token of Tanger’s appreciation, everyone who participates in the Tanger Trees of Hope program will receive a free plush moose toy in Christmas pajamas. All gift items will be wrapped by volunteers from the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition and distributed to six families in Kent and Sussex counties that have been financially sidetracked due to a recent breast cancer diagnosis.
The Tanger Pink Trees of Hope program is a continuation of the partnership between the Tanger Outlet Center of Rehoboth Beach and DBCC.
“Many people are aware of Tanger’s popular PINK Card campaign in September and October that raises money for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition,” said Amy Norgate, general manager of the Tanger Outlet Center in Rehoboth Beach. “Those funds are used each year to expand programs in Delaware which increase awareness of breast cancer, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms, and provide support and resources to women and men who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.”
“This is truly a team effort,” Connie Holdridge of the DBCC said. “From the donations of gifts to the wrapping and delivering, many hands make this happen each year. We are happy to be able to make many Christmas wishes come true for breast cancer survivors and their children this year. Together, we can truly make a difference.” Last year the Tanger Trees of Hope program collected 300 gifts for families in need.
