Sussex Central to present Tony Award winner 'Amadeus' Dec. 13-15

December 8, 2012

The Take Two Drama Club of Sussex Central High School will present "Amadeus" by Peter Shaffer Thursday to Saturday, Dec. 13-15; the Dec. 13 and 14 shows have a curtain time of 7 p.m., while the Dec. 15 show is a matinee with a curtain time of 2 p.m.

General admission is $8 at the door; students, seniors and military pay $5. Middle chool students with ID are admitted on a special two-for-one ticket for $5. No one will be turned away for inability to pay.

"Amadeus" is a darkly humorous retelling of the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his archrival, the less talented composer Antonio Salieri, who may or may not be trying to kill the young musical genius. The play, which has not been performed in Sussex County in decades, was a Tony Award winning Broadway hit and an Academy Award winning film.

“This play offers an incredible learning experience for our actors,” says SCHS drama instructor and director David Warick, “and I’m so glad we can bring this classic contemporary play to Sussex County. Our cast is remarkable and the audience is in for a great night of theatre, not just a great night of high school theater!”

For school groups and group sales, call Warick at 302-934-3166, Ext. 420. Concessions will be available during the intermission. Sussex Central High School is located at 26026 Patriots Way, Georgetown.
