Cape basketball girls 'housed' twice to open season

Ursuline beats Cape 61-16

The Cape Henlopen girls' basketball team has opened the season with a pair of emphatic losses, dropping a 75-50 contest at Smyrna Dec. 4 and a 61-16 loss to defending state champion Ursuline Dec. 7.

Kadijah Doughty set a personal scoring record in the Smyrna game, dropping 32 points.

The Eagles had four players in double figures including Brionna Johnson 20, Taylor Price 19, Alexus Stroud 12 and Alyson Davis 10.

The Vikings had no player in double figures versus Ursuline. Jump shooter Emily Baptiste broke two fingers in the Smyrna game and is out for the next six weeks.

Adrianna Hahn of Ursuline, a sophomore guard, had 22 points.

Cape will play at 2-0 Indian River Tuesday, Dec. 11, with the varsity game starting at 6:15. The Indians have no JV team.
