Elaine ‘Lena’ Insley, trained candystripers

Elaine "Lena" Helen Insley, 94, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Brandywine Assisted Living in Rehoboth Beach, with her loving daughter by her side. She was born in Marshallton, March 6, 1918, daughter of the late Ferdnand and Conchetta George.

Mrs. Insley served as president of the altar society at St. Helena's Church in Wilmington for many years. She enjoyed providing training for the candystripers at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington. Mrs. Insley loved crocheting beautiful pieces for friends and family. She also enjoyed a good shopping spree or sitting quietly working on her crossword puzzles.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther H. Insley; sister: Mary J. George; and brother Fred J. George. She is survived by her loving daughter, Bonnie Allison and husband Ernest of Rehoboth Beach; one sister: Ann Glover ; two grandsons: Stephen J. Allison and wife Lisa of Mechanicsburg, Pa. and Jonathan P. Allison of Wilmington.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Entombment will be at 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, at Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Salesianum School, 1801 N. Broom St. Wilmington, DE 19802.
