Basia Banks, had heart of gold

Basia Banks, 61, of Frankford, formerly of Philadelphia, Pa., passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, after a five-year battle with cancer.

Basia was a graduate of Temple University and worked as a controller for the Historical Developers Corporation and ended her career with a major telemarketing firm.  Basia also owned and operated her own accounting firm in Philadelphia.  She enjoyed being a grandmother and loved the time spent with her family.  Basia will always be remembered as having a heart of gold and being unbelievably organized.

She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Vincent H. Banks; four children, Crystal L. Banks Roberson, Carle M. Banks, Danielle Banks and Vincent H. Banks Jr.; two brothers, Theodore and Martin Rzepela; a sister, Theresa Orlock; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She has a host of other nieces and nephews, family members and devoted friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 35318 Church Road, Frankford.  Interment will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Basia’s name, to the SPCA Sussex Chapter of the Humane Society, 22918 DuPont Hwy., Georgetown, DE 19947.
