Richard Edward Deskis, retired inspector

Richard Edward Deskis, 76, of Rehoboth Beach, formerly of Delaware County, Pa., passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.  Mr. Deskis was born Jan. 21, 1936, in Wilkes Barre, Pa., son of the late Charles and Josephine Charnetski Deskis.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Charles and Thomas Deskis.

Mr. Deskis retired as a quality control inspector in 1995 after 35 years service with Boeing-Vertol, Helicopter Division.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and as a reservist following the war and was a member of American Legion Post 17 in Lewes.  Mr. Deskis played semi-pro baseball on the Norwood Team in the Delaware County Delco League. An avid lover of baseball, his team was the Phillies.  Bowling and fishing were two of his hobbies which he had enjoyed through the years. He was a member of Union Local UAW 1069, where he served as shop steward for many years.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Bradigan Deskis; one son, Richard J. Deskis and his wife Colleen of Wallingford, Pa.; twin granddaughters, Lily and Nora; and one grandson Jack.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday Jan. 9, at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Burial with military honors will follow at the Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach.
