Felicia J. Hickman, retired HR director

January 7, 2013

Felicia J. Hickman, 82, of Lewes, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Harbor Health Care in Lewes.  She was born Nov. 19, 1930, daughter of the late John and Evelyn (Timberlake) Bullard.

Mrs. Hickman enjoyed a lifelong career as director of human resources at Wilmington Medical Center, now known as Christiana Care.  After retirement in 1996, she was able to spend more time doing the things she most loved.  Mrs. Hickman was an avid golfer, supporting and volunteering her time for LPGA tournaments where she met many professional golfers.  When the fish were biting, she could be found with rod in hand, hoping for a great day of saltwater fishing. Mrs. Hickman would travel the country over for either of these loves!

Mrs. Hickman loved volunteering but especially enjoyed her time with several self-help organizations.  She was a grand storyteller and the family jokester.  Her amazing personality and love of people will forever be footprints on the hearts of many.  She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her long time companion Rebecca Brown in 2006; and her sister: Jacquelyn Julian in 2010.  Mrs. Hickman is survived by her son, William "Bill" D. Hickman Jr. and his wife Laura of Rehoboth Beach; four grandchildren: Julie Davis and husband Jimmy of Long Neck, William "Will" D. Hickman III of Rehoboth Beach, Jennifer Tatem and husband Brian of Rehoboth Beach, and Bryan Hickman and wife Julie of Rehoboth Beach; seven great-grandchildren; a nephew and niece whom she considered her children:  Richard Browne and wife Mary of Wilmington, and Penelope Williams of Wilmington; and several other nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes; Pastor Adam Woods will officiate.  Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.  Interment will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 14, at Cathedral Cemetery in Wilmington.
