Legion Auxiliary names Ann Wotring as raffle winner

January 13, 2013

After selling nearly 600 tickets, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 17 held the drawing for the Holiday Red Wagon Raffle on Dec. 21. The winner was Ann Wotring, shown with the wagon. She is a local woman who has deep ties to the giving community. As members of Bethel United Methodist Church, she and husband Bob have given countless hours to the community.

The wagon contained close to $500 worth of goods including wine and wine glasses, holiday plates, napkins, candy and much more. There were also gift certificates to Touch of Italy, The Buttery and the newest cheese shop in the area, Morgan & Gower Cheesemongers.

The auxiliary appreciates the local community support for its fundraisers. To donate to their next raffle, contact Joanne Stafford at 302-645-0489.

With proceeds of the raffles, the auxiliary is able to mail packages to troops abroad and provide support to local veterans and their families. Too many veterans and their families struggle daily to meet their own needs, which can include food, shelter and medical and transportation costs.

To get help for a veteran who is struggling to make ends meet, contact any American Legion post.
