A 64-year-old Milton was injured Jan. 7; police say his vehicle struck a chicken truck, causing it to overturn near Bridgeville.
Clarence A. Fisher Jr. was driving a pickup truck northbound on Oak Road at 9 a.m. when he failed to stop at the intersection with Redden Road, said Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.
Fisher's pickup struck a tractor trailer hauling live chickens and driven by Kenneth G. Stearrett, 55, of Lewes. The impact caused the tractor trailer to overturn on the roadway, Fournier said.
Fisher was properly restrained; he was airlifted to Beebe Medical Center and then flown to Christiana Medical Center where he is in critical condition, Fournier said. A 45-year-old passenger in Fisher's truck was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Stearrett was properly restrained and did not require medical attention.
The road was closed for more than five hours. Alcohol is not considered a factor in this collision, Fournier said.
