Gun owning Americans in politicians' sights

January 11, 2013

Once again, another tragedy by a deranged person with a gun has put law abiding, gun-owning Americans in the sights of politicians. Those same politicians who have taken our Constitutional Republic and made a mockery of our God-given, unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness over the years.

As usual these tragedies become fodder for gun-control. Politicians on the local, state and federal level do a knee-jerk reaction of “we need more gun control laws.” The liberal left continues the push to take away arms from law abiding citizens.

It has been proven time and time again that stricter gun laws do not impact murders. Every law that is passed in the name of protecting someone or something takes away another basic liberty from the innocent people. It makes people think that a law abiding gun owner is guilty because some deranged person may use a gun to commit mayhem. Is the gun responsible, or the person with malicious intent responsible?

The worst part of the tragedy in New Town, Aurora, Virginia Tech, Ft. Hood, et al is that the law-abiding citizens read the signs that said “Gun Free Zone” and abided by the mandate.

Economist Thomas Sowell said it so well. “If you don’t want to have a gun in your home or in your school, that’s your choice. But don’t be such a damn fool as to advertise to the whole world that you are in a gun-free environment where you are a hapless target for any homicidal fiend who is armed. Is it worth a human life to be a politically correct moral exhibitionist?”
