The Lewes Building Company Raises More Than $6,500 for Tunnell Cancer Center

January 9, 2013

The Lewes Building Company recently presented Tunnell Cancer Center with a check for $6,523 from the proceeds of tickets sales from its Southern Living Showcase Home open house that took place the last week of November. The home is the first Southern Living home to be built in the mid-Atlantic region.

Kathleen and John Leebel, owners of The Lewes Building Company, decided early on to designate the proceeds of ticket sales to the open house to benefit counseling services at Beebe Medical Center’s Tunnell Cancer Center.

“The Lewes Building Company really wanted to do something locally that would help others who have been affected by cancer so we decided to donate proceeds from the 2012 Southern Living Showcase Home's ticket sales to support these services at the Tunnell Cancer Center,” said John Leebel. “Last year, my wife and I, as well as our business partner, Jeff Dawson, all experienced tremendous personal loss due to cancer. We have seen firsthand how counseling and psychosocial services can help patients, families, and caregivers navigate the scary and confusing world of cancer. Here in Sussex County, we are fortunate to have the Tunnell Cancer Center.”
