Cape Henlopen Food Basket thanks donors

January 18, 2013

The Cape Henlopen Food Basket is a ministry of the Lewes-Rehoboth Association of Churches.  Its mission is to serve those who live in the Cape Henlopen School District who are in need of emergency food.

Many of our neighbors struggle, especially in the off-season when jobs are lost or hours are cut, when they become ill or disabled and cannot work, or when circumstances otherwise make it hard for them to provide food for themselves and their families.

Our role is to help them get through a temporarily difficult period. (If people have a longer-term need for food, we refer them to the local Department of Social Services for additional help or verification of continued need.)

The food basket relies solely on the support of LRAC and donations we receive from others. During this past holiday season we were blessed to receive numerous donations of money and nonperishable food items from members of our community.

The board of directors would like to thank the many individuals, churches, social groups, and businesses who collected food for us and supported us financially.  These donations help us immensely and we thank our neighbors and friends for all they do to help us carry out our mission.
