Milford Housing receives $1,000 grant from County Bank

The Milford Housing Development Corporation has been awarded a $1,000 grant from County Bank.  Shown at the Jan. 11 presentation are (l-r) Clayton Serman, County Bank; David Moore, MHDC; and Pricilla Rogers, County Bank.

MHDC is a nonprofit organization that provides affordable housing solutions in Delaware and is headquartered in Milford. MHDC has provided safe and sanitary housing for very low- to moderate- income households in the state hundreds of Delaware citizens.

MHDC plans on using the grant to support its Self-Help Housing Program. The program was established by USDA Rural Development more than 40 years ago for very low- to low-income families, utilizing a sweat equity model. MHDC is the only agency in Delaware offering the program and has helped more than 140 families realize their dream of home ownership. Currently, MHDC’s Self-Help families average $35,000 in sweat equity per home.
