Ernie Lopez sworn in for first Senate term

Sen. Ernie Lopez, R-Lewes, is sworn in by retired Sussex County Superior Court Judge Bill Lee at a ceremony Jan. 8, at Legislative Hall in Dover. Lopez is joined by his wife, Janis, and his two daughters, Anna (standing) and Claire.

Lopez, who was born in Puerto Rico, is the first Hispanic elected and sworn in to the Delaware Senate. In his first session in the Senate, which began Jan. 8, Lopez said he will focus on improving Delaware’s economy. Lopez represents the 6th Senatorial District.
