Laurie Tatro Lenney, devout Catholic

Laurie M. (Tatro) Lenney, 94, of Hartford, Conn., and formerly of Norwalk, Conn. and Largo, Fla., beloved wife of the late Paul Lenney, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013. Born Nov. 21, 1918, in Agawam, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Lillian (Knightly) Tatro.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she devoted her life to raising her family. Laurie was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Hartford as well as parishes in Norwalk. Laurie and her husband were leaders in the Cursillio Movement in the Bridgeport Diocese. They were very involved in the advancement of the Tres Dios Movement. Laurie also devoted her time as a volunteer with Hospice.

Laurie is survived by her four children, J. P. Lenney and his wife Mary Pax Lenney of Irvine, Calif., Mary Yvonne Lenney of Lewes, Paula Ciarletto of Wethersfield, Conn. and Laurie Sandberg and her husband Kenneth of Ridgefield, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Jay, Richard, Kathleen, Larry, Brian, Jessica and Anna; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by four sisters.

There will be a memorial service celebrating Laurie’s life at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, in the Julia Gilman Clark Chapel at Avery Heights, 705 New Britain Ave., Hartford. There are no calling hours.
