Felix Eli Figueroa, retired accountant

Felix Eli Figueroa, 90, of Seaford, passed away at Lofland Life Care in Seaford Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013.

Born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, May 3, 1922, he was the son of the late José de Gracia Figueroa and Modesta Miranda de Figueroa. He was a devoted family man who loved the Lord, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the World War II era. He earned the American Theater Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and four Overseas Service Bars.  He was an accountant.

He loved sports, baseball especially, and loved to play solitaire. He was known as a great person, and was an endearing character who loved to joke, and was a meticulous perfectionist, who was very tidy. He also served as a translator at Head Start, and he loved children. He was particularly dedicated to his wife, Rosa, whom he spent 25 years caring for, after her two aneurisms.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Miriam Perez; Myrna Rosa Hastings and Yolanda Nock.  He has four living siblings: Ernestina Diaz, Noemi Figueroa, Neftali Figueroa and Jorge Figueroa.  In addition he has seven grandchildren: Delhaila, Gabriel, David, Peter, Michael, Daniel and Xavier; and five great-grandchildren: Natasha, Desiree, Isaac, Talia and Katarina, and there is a sixth one on the way.

A memorial service is planned for Friday, Jan. 25 at 12:30 p.m., at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, where friends may call for one hour prior for visitation with the family.  Interment will follow with military honors at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Iglesia de Dios Maranatha, PO Box 555, Seaford, DE 19973.
