Marvin B. Woodrum, retired produce manager

Marvin B. Woodrum, 77, of Dagsboro, formerly of Gaithersburg, Md., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

Marvin was born in Kaymoor, W.Va., Sept. 2, 1935, son of the late Charles Spurgas and Dora Ellen (Johnson) Woodrum. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and retired as a produce manager for A&P. Marvin was a past member of the Delaware Senior Olympics, volunteered for the Cheer Mobile and AARP, a member of the Old Timer’s Softball League and enjoyed bowling.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 57 years, Anna L. (Reed) Woodrum; three children, Charles Woodrum, Marvin David Woodrum and Pamela Ann Detrick and her husband Richard; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where friends and family may call after 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Marvin’s name to the Tunnell Cancer Center, 18941 John J. Williams Hwy., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
