Many of us were totally mystified last summer by the town of Henlopen Acres trying to censor William Shakespeare. (The smallest town in Delaware vs. the World’s Greatest Playwright.)
The town threatened criminal prosecution and fines for the Rehoboth Art League and the local Possum Point Players as they performed “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”’ in the afternoon in the Rehoboth Art League garden. Happily, freedom prevailed and attendees at three performances were thrilled and delighted by the production. (Reportedly the town has refused to cancel the fines.)
Last summer’s overwhelming success means the good news is that our community will once again hear an enchanting garden production of the works of the Bard of Avon. “A Comedy of Errors” will be performed in the Art League Garden May 18-19, 25-26, from 4 to 6 p.m. Please mark your calendars. It promises to be one of the arts highlights of the coming summer.

Shakespeare once wrote “the object of art is to give life a shape.” Maybe with your donation and attendance you can also say “the object of art is to give Henlopen Acres a life.”
