Magic shows come to Milford Feb. 18 and March 18

February 5, 2013

Downtown Milford Inc. started bringing world-class magicians to audiences in Milford beginning  in January. Dickens Parlour Theatre and Milford Senior Center will be presenting monthly magic shows starting at 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 18 and March 18, at the senior center. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The family friendly magic shows will highlight a new professional magician each month.  There will be a cash bar before and after the performance.  Desserts and coffee and hot chocolate will be on sale for the after-show eat and greet with the magicians.

David Kaplan will be featured Feb. 18. Illusion, music, juggling and deadpan comedy collide in this vaudevillesque spectacle. Kaplan  welcomes spectators young and old into a wonderfully strange world they will not soon forget.  He manages to tame a rogue bowling ball, juggle furniture and play melodies on a concert balloon, turkey baster and his grandfather’s keel, all to the delight of a charmed audience.

The renowned Rich Bloch will appear March 18. The legendary Orson Wells referred to Bloch as “an Edison of magic” for inventing 80 magic effects.  He performs comedy magic on cruise lines and in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Europe,  Africa and Asia.  In 2010, he was selected as a National Star of Magic by the Washington National Theatre. He’s been nominated six times for Stage Magician of the Year at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. Rich and Sue Bloch own the magical Dickens Parlour Theatre in Millville.
