Helen V. Bye, 94, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Cadbury at Lewes. She was born in Dracut, Mass., July 1, 1918, daughter of the late John and Anna (Grabiec) Sudol. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lee Edward Bye in 2010; and her siblings, Jane, Anna, Elvina and Edward.
Mrs. Bye attended Oklahoma State University and Lowell Commercial College in Massachusetts. She was a member of the Rehoboth Beach Country Club, devoted 30-year volunteer for Meals on Wheels, member of the Village Improvement Association, and member of St. Edmond Catholic Church. She was a U.S. Navy veteran.
She is survived by her two sons: Lee E. Bye Jr. and wife Sherry of Rehoboth Beach and John P. Bye and wife Maria of Voorhees, N.J.; three grandsons: Peter, Lee and Scott Bye; and her sister Dolly Trowbridge of Lowell, Mass.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach,where friends may call one hour prior to Mass. Interment with military honors will follow the Mass at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Meals on Wheels, 32409 Lewes-Georgetown Highway, Lewes, DE 19958, or to St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
