Clear Space Theatre holds Stage Door Canteen revue

February 25, 2013

Clear Space Theatre Company in Rehoboth Beach held a Valentine's Day “Stage Door Canteen” style revue Feb. 14 at its theatre. The revue was originally planned to take place at the Rehoboth Beach Museum, where its World War II exhibit is being shown, but response was so great that the performance was moved to the theatre.

The Stage Door Canteen in New York City was a special club; their guests, a steady stream of GIs headed off to war. Top name performers of that era performed for the GIs. Songs included in Clear Space Theatre’s revue included “Chattanooga Choo-Choo,” “You’ll Never Know” and “I’ll Be Seeing You.”

Shown singing “Sentimental Journey” are Lorraine Steinhoff, left, and Jerry Birl.
