Madeleine Ann Shampine, insurance salesperson
Madeleine Ann Shampine, 89, of Milford, formerly of Lewes and Hadden Heights, N.J., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford.
Madeleine was born in Maple Shade, N.J. Aug. 2, 1923, daughter of the late Francis and Hannah (Gallagher) Cloran.
She had worked as a salesperson for the Little Paper in Pennsauken, N.J., as a Prudential insurance agent and the Merchantville National Bank before her retirement.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira J. “Jack” Shampine in 2011. She is survived by a daughter, Vicki (Wayne) Carmean of Fenwick Island; a son, Kurt S. (Elizabeth) Roth of Hillsborough, N.J.; two stepsons, J. Michael (Christine) Shampine of New Jersey and P. Jeffrey Shampine of Massachusetts; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 16, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where friends and family may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Madeleine’s name to the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford, DE 19963.
