Knights of Columbus sponsor free throw championship
The Bishop Burke Council No. 11285 recently sponsored a basketball Free Throw Championship for local youth. Youngsters age 10 through 12 participated in the contest Feb. 16 at the Long Neck Boys & Girls Club.
Competitors shot 15 free throws, and the winners from each age category were then determined by the number of shots made. Winners will go to the district level of competition next month at a location in New Castle County.
Shown (l-r) are the age category winners: 10-year-old Hunter Branco of Millsboro; 11-year-old Michael Glanden of Millsboro; 12-year-old Branden Ashley of Millsboro. Overall shots made winner was Michael Glanden with 13 of 20 attempts in a playoff.
