K. Ruth Cooper, 90, formerly of Bethany Beach, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at the Atlantic Shores Nursing Home in Millsboro.
Ruth was born in Philadelphia, Pa., Dec. 25, 1922, to the late Charles L. and Adah Lingo Hart.
She was a graduate of Lord Baltimore High School in Ocean View, and attended the Beebe School of Nursing in Lewes. She enjoyed playing bridge every week and was well known for her funny jokes, good cooking, and her knitting skills. Her wonderful hospitality was shown to everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles L. Hart Jr.; and her beloved husband, Milton W. Cooper, who died in September, 2012. Ruth is survived by her son, John Cooper (Janet) of Millville; daughter, Carolyn Hockman (Sterling) of Ocean View; three grandsons, Chad Hockman (Karen) of Millville, Greg Hockman (Marisa) of Millville and Guy Cooper (Billie) of Clarksville; five great-grandchildren, C.J. and Madison Hockman, Macyn Hockman, Nathan and Braxton Cooper.
Ruth was a member of the Ocean View Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Ocean View Church of Christ, 55 West Ave., Ocean View, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Roxana Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Ruth’s name to Ocean View Church of Christ building fund, 55 West Ave., Ocean View, DE 19970.
