Arthur Thomas Worth, Civil Air Patrol hero

Col. Arthur Thomas "Tom" Worth, 93, the last surviving member of Coastal Patrol Base 2 in Rehoboth Beach, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013.

As a Civil Air Patrol first lieutenant, Worth was awarded the Air Medal by General Orders 12 on April 14, 1948, for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight during the period from April 8, 1942 to Aug. 26, 1943. He went on to a career in the Army Air Force and the U.S. Air Force.

Burial with full military honors will be held at noon, Saturday, March 2, at Silver Brook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington.
