Edith W. Russell, Wesley church member

Edith W. Russell, 102, of Seaford, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013, at Methodist Manor House, her residence since 1992.
Edith was born on a farm near Harbeson, the eldest child of Sheridan and Leta (Stewart) Warrington.

Upon graduation from Georgetown High School, Edith worked for Georgetown Lumber Company, as well as Megee Motors. Sussex County was her home for more than 100 years.  She had been a member of Wesley U.M. Church in Georgetown for more than 70 years.

Edith was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her grandsons; especially her great-grandsons.

In addition to her parents and siblings, Edith is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, T. Stuart Russell.

Edith is survived by her daughter: Margaret Russell Lopatka and husband Tony; three grandsons: Russ and wife Jen, Brian and wife Sarah and Matt and wife Denise; and two great-grandsons: Easton and Griffin Lopatka.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 4, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown.  Burial will immediately follow at Harbeson Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the Methodist Manor House for their kindness and compassionate care, especially during the time that Edith was in the healthcare unit.
