Fire marshal: Boy set camper on fire

March 8, 2013

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office says a boy set a fire to a camper March 7, causing $15,000 in damages.

The Lewes Fire Department responded to the fire at 4:24 p.m. on Pine Tree Road in Tall Pines, said Deputy Fire Marshal Harry Miller. Milton and Rehoboth Beach fire departments assisted.

Upon arrival, firefighters found one camper trailer under heavy fire, and fire had spread to another camper, Miller said.

The fire marshal determined the fire was intentionally set; they arrested a boy and charged him with second-degree arson and criminal trespass. He was released to the custody of his parents pending a hearing in Family Court.
