Grace A. McCabe, cafeteria worker

Grace A. McCabe, 89, formerly of Selbyville and currently of Millsboro, passed away at Beebe Medical Center, in Lewes, Friday, March 8, 2013.

Born Oct. 13, 1923, she was one of four children born to the late Alfred and Sallie Gray Long. She was retired from the Indian River School District, having worked in the cafeteria. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, in Selbyville. She was also a member of the Indian River Senior Center.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Layton McCabe; and three children: Bonnie Fukamura, of Millsboro, Nancy Clem and her husband John Lowenfeld, of Akron, Ohio, and Fay Hackford and her husband Dick of Council Bluff, Iowa. She has one surviving sister: Hilda Littleton of Frankford; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, along with several extended family members and many friends. Her siblings Ratie Upton and Sarah Parker preceded her.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, at Salem United Methodist Church, 29 Church Street in Selbyville, where friends may call one hour prior for visitation. Dr. James Van Der Wall will officiate. Interment will be private at Carey’s Cemetery in Frankford.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Salem United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 410, Selbyville, DE 19975.
