Harry D. Veasey, maintenance manager

Harry Davidson Veasey, 81, of Georgetown, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013, at his home. He had been a resident of Georgetown his entire life. He was the son of the late Thomas Parker and Nellie (Davidson) Veasey.

He began his working career with the Delaware State Highway Department, and then he worked 30 years, full-time, for the Delaware National Guard. After retiring from the state, he completed his working career as the maintenance manager for the town of Millsboro.

He was a life member of the Georgetown Fire Company, and a member of the Red Men, Masonic Lodge and the Delaware Campers Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dorothea J. Veasey' and brothers, Johnny, Edward, Preston, Willard and Raymond.

He is survived by two sons, Thomas P. Veasey II and wife Sara W. Veasey of Asheville, N.C., and David M. Veasey and wife Elisabeth K. Veasey of Earlysville, Va., four grandchildren, Nicole D. Veasey of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Amista H. Lunsford of Asheville, Megan E. Veasey and Brian D. Veasey, both of Earlysville, Va.; one great-grandchild, Aviana Lunsford of Asheville; and four brothers, Richard, Kendal, Ralph and Linden.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call Monday night from 6 to 8 pm. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1 pm, in Millsboro. Following the interment, there will be a luncheon at the Georgetown Fire Hall beginning at 2 p.m.
