Ashton Tomlinson signs to play softball at Eastern University

March 15, 2013

Senior Ashton Tomlinson of Laurel has signed a letter of intent to play softball at Eastern University. The Philadelphia school is a member of the Freedom Conference.

Ashton will play outfield and pitch for coach Brittany Stroop. The Lady Eagles had a .500 season last year. Ashton will be joining former Ravens teammate Erin Johnson on the college team. Ashton says she has been looking for a college since seventh grade and is very happy about finding a place where she feels comfortable and welcome.

Ashton is looking forward to her senior season at Sussex Tech. She is excited about stepping into a senior leadership role on the team. She says all the other teams will be gunning for the Lady Ravens, who are the reigning state champions, but this year’s team will provide them some strong competition.

Ashton has the distinctive memory of catching the last out in center field during last year’s state championship game.

The young lady extends thanks to former Sussex Tech coach John Marvel for all he did to help her and thanks to her travel ball coach Jerry Kirby of the Delaware Storm team.
