James W. Sweeney, retired truck driver

James W. Sweeney, 75 of Lewes, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 10, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

Mr. Sweeney was born May 31, 1937, in Darby, Pa., son of the late John Sweeney and Eleanor Carlin Sweeney. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother William Sweeney and a sister Helen Mae Sweeney.
Mr. Sweeney was a retired professional truck driver, having worked for New Penn Motor Express. Devotion to his family was his focus in life.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Keeney Sweeney; four sons, James W. Sweeney Jr. and wife Bonnie of Springfield, Pa., John J. Sweeney and wife Beverly of Allentown, Pa., Joseph J. Sweeney and wife Ann of Springfield, Pa. and Richard J. Sweeney and wife Sherry of Pottstown, Pa.,; one daughter, Ruth Ott and husband Joseph of Norwood, Pa.; two sisters, Jacqueline Frekot and husband William of Pitman, N.J., and Elizabeth Deemer and husband Robert of Bethany Beach; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

All services will be private.
